"Beelzebub has a devil set aside for me"*
Tonight we drove around the neighborhood looking at Christmas lights, or, as Bill calls it, scoping the competition. We have won the neighborhood lights competition 4 times. Twice we took in the much coveted "Most Lights" award. Sadly that category has been dropped due to the highly competitive nature of one of our neighbors who was a sore loser to say the least. This guy actually complained to the Home Owners Association that he didn't win. Shortly afterwards the sign proclaiming our winnage mysteriously disappeared from our front yard. Hm, wonder who took it?
My husband and children have spent two full days accessorizing our yard with lights of every variety. I took a picture of all their hard efforts. He reminded me he was only in "phase 2", thus, I'm not allowed to post the picture. Oh well, it really didn't turn out anyway.
The rest of the year Bill is content to spend his non working hours watching TV, playing X-Box, or following me around the house reading me the newspaper (the paper reading thing is a whole nother post!) For some reason, at Christmas he is seized with the yule-tide spirit of Martha Stewart on crack. The electricity being pumped into our yard could probably keep Borat's home town going for a year. Bill will not be satisfied until every square inch of our property is covered in Christmas cheer.
Lila is the only one of us who has the true Christmas spirit. When we got home tonight she told me here favorite house was the one with "the people praying around baby Jesus." Astute girl, that Lila. After looking at all the glitz and glitter she liked the nativity scene the best.

Too bad your faithful readers can't know what a precious girl our Lila is. We all need to be reminded what this season is all about from time to time.

Do you have any idea how many years I've been singing those lyrics incorrectly?
I always thought they said, "Beelzebub had a devil for a son... for me... for me!"
It makes so much more sense now.
Thank you.
